Based on the strategy and action plan for digitalization at the Technical University of Moldova (UTM) and the need to implement modern automation solutions, an access control and monitoring system has been implemented in the university dormitories. This system allows restricting access to unauthorized persons and managing residents through a centralized database maintained by UTM.
The access control system serves as a management tool for monitoring entries and exits in a specific university area or student dormitory, with the mission of protecting and supervising personnel, rooms, equipment, and confidential data managed by the university.
Behind these visible elements, a network of interconnected devices using various technologies communicates to perform access control functions. All devices have been reprogrammed by UTM’s ICT Directorate to meet the institution’s requirements and needs.
Thus, dormitories are equipped with an access control system that allows entry via PIN code, QR code, RFID–NFC, or through the call center via voice and video calls.
Each generated QR code or PIN is unique for each resident and is valid for 5 minutes. Residents or students can only access the dormitory for which they hold a rental agreement.
To facilitate the use of the access control information systems, UTM’s ICT Directorate has developed a video guide within the dormitories, enabling users to make proper use of the system.
Digitalization is a key factor in the development, automation, and efficiency of university processes!
